Britton Wayne Mauk (he/him/his) is a scenic designer and proud queer trans man who thrives on collaboration, bold ideas, and innovative design. He enjoys thinking outside the box while ensuring productions are visually captivating and aligned with their artistic vision.

Britton has had the privilege of designing world premieres: Untitled and The Burdens at City Theatre, as well as Old Man and the Sea at Pittsburgh Playhouse. His work at these theaters also includes American Fast, The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey at City Theatre, and Good Grief and Wig Out! at Pittsburgh Playhouse.

His portfolio includes productions at Portland Center Stage, where he designed Sweeney Todd, a co-production of Clyde’s with Syracuse Stage, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and Rent in Portland, OR, at Indian Repertory Theatre’s The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee in Indianapolis, IN, and Long Wharf Theatre's I Am My Own Wife in New Haven, CT.

Across the region, Britton's designs include Matilde and Fun Home at Constellation Stage in Bloomington, IN; Mermaid Hour Remixed at Mixed Blood Theatre in Minneapolis, MN; and Fires in the Mirror and Skeleton Crew at Bristol Riverside Theatre. In the Pittsburgh area, he has worked with Pittsburgh Public Theatre (The Chief), Front Porch Theatricals, CLO Cabaret (The Color Purple, Godspell, Xanadu), as well as Prime Stage, Pittsburgh Musical Theatre, and Quantum Theatre.

Beyond his design work, Britton co-chairs the USITT Queer Nation Network and co-coordinates the USITT Gateway Program. He is also a member of Local USA 829 and serves as an assistant teaching professor at the University of Pittsburgh.
